1. Who we are
Your Career Type is operated by Level 3 Skills, established in the Netherlands.

"We" and "us" mean Level 3 Skills. "You" means the person using the site.
2. What these terms are
These terms are the agreement between you and us about using yourcareertype.com. By using the site you accept them.
Our Privacy Policy sits alongside these terms.
Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be taken away. If a clause here conflicts with a mandatory consumer protection in the country where you live, that protection wins and the rest of these terms stay in force.
3. What the service is, and what it costs
The site explains the sixteen career types, the five aspects a career is made of, and the thinking behind them. The quick scan asks five questions about your career so far and shows you the career type it has had. The full scan also asks how you like to work, and shows which career type fits you, beside the one your career has had. My page keeps your results together, and lets you change your email address, download your data or delete everything.
Until further notice, everything on the site is free.
If we ever charge for something, we will be very clear about it. You will see what it is and what it costs before anything is charged, it will come with its own terms, and nothing costs you money unless you clearly agree to pay for it. Using the free site never commits you to anything.
The scans are tools for thinking about your own working life. Clauses 9 and 10 set out plainly what they are not.
4. Using the site without giving your address
You can read every page and take the quick scan without giving us your name or your email address. Its result is kept in your browser, and we store the answers without anything that identifies you, so we can learn from them.
That has a consequence you should know about. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, we have no way of finding that result for you, because we have nothing to look it up by. Giving us an email address is what makes a result recoverable.
The full scan asks for your email address before it shows your result. We email you the result's link, which is how you get back to it.
5. Your email address, and My page
You can give us an email address to have your result sent to you and to come back to it later, and, if you tick the box, to receive our newsletter. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
Keep the address current and do not use somebody else's. When you open a link we email you, your address is confirmed and becomes a small account with no password. You sign in by a link sent to that address, never with a password. My page shows your results, and lets you change your address, download your data or delete everything at once.
Anyone you give a result's link can open that result, so share it as you would a photo. Your email address is shown only to you.
6. Feedback you send us
Where the site asks what you think of a page, what you send goes to us, not to other readers. We read it to improve the site and may use what you suggest, without owing you anything for it. We do not publish your comments with your name or address. Please do not send us anything you would not want us to read.
7. Age
You must be 16 or over to take the scan or give us your email address.
8. What we own, and what you may do with it
The scan, the scoring, the type system and the writing are ours. That includes the questions, the way answers are scored, the career type names and their descriptions, the text and drawings on the site, and its design. It is protected by copyright and by database rights.
Your result is yours to use, personally. You may read it, keep it, print it, share it, and show it to whoever you like, including a coach, a mentor or a friend. You may quote the site, with a link to it.
What you may not do, without our written permission: republish our content as your own or as a competing product; use our questions, our scoring or our type descriptions to build another test; or remove our attribution.
Your answers are yours. We do not claim ownership of them. What we do with them is set out in the Privacy Policy.
9. This is not a clinical or diagnostic instrument
The scan does not diagnose anything. It is not a medical device, it is not a psychological assessment carried out by a qualified professional, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, a psychologist or a therapist.
Your result says something about the shape of your career. It says nothing about your health, your mental health, your intelligence, your competence, your worth as an employee or your worth as a person. We do not draw those inferences and you should not read them in.
If you are struggling, please talk to a professional, not to a career test.
10. This is not a hiring instrument
You may not use the scan, or a result from it, to select, screen, rank, assess, promote, manage or dismiss anyone.
Specifically, and without limiting that: not as a pre-employment test, not as part of an application process, not to sift candidates, not for internal promotion or performance review, and not to decide who is put on what team.
The scan has not been validated for occupational selection, doing so requires evidence we do not have, and using an unvalidated instrument to make decisions about somebody's livelihood is both unfair to them and a legal risk to you. Using the site this way is a breach of these terms, and we may suspend access for it.
11. What we can and cannot promise about accuracy
We build this carefully and we publish our method. But be clear about the limits:
- We do not have population norms yet. We do not say where you sit relative to other people, because we do not yet have enough answers to support it.
- A self-report measures what you say about yourself, on the day, in the mood you are in. Take it again a year later and it may differ.
- A type is a summary, not a verdict. Where your result does not fit you, trust yourself over us.
We provide the site with reasonable skill and care. We do not promise it is free of errors, or that your result will be right for you.
12. What you agree not to do
Do not: break the law with it; try to get into parts of the system that are not yours; scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site; try to reconstruct the questions or the scoring; interfere with the site or its security; use bots or scripts to take the scan or send feedback; or misrepresent what the scan is when you talk about it publicly.
13. Availability, and changes to the site
We aim to keep the site up but we do not guarantee it, and we may take it down for maintenance. We may change, add or remove pages and features, including the scan.
14. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Subject to that:
- The site is free, and we are not liable for career, financial or business consequences of decisions you take after reading it. The site is information. The decisions are yours.
- We are not liable for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control.
15. Suspension and ending
You can stop using the site at any time, and ask us to delete your data. See the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, including clauses 10 and 12. Where it is reasonable we will warn you first.
16. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. If a change materially affects you, and we have your confirmed email address, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect. A change never commits you to paying for anything: that takes your clear agreement, every time (clause 3).
17. Governing law, and where a dispute goes
These terms are governed by Dutch law only, and any dispute goes to the court in Amsterdam, unless the law gives you as a consumer a right to go elsewhere.
18. Complaints
Write to [email protected] and describe the problem. We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and to resolve within 14 days.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you can take the matter to a court under clause 17. If you live in the Netherlands you can also contact ConsuWijzer, the Dutch consumer information desk.
19. The remaining formalities
Severability. If a clause is invalid, the rest stays in force and the invalid clause is read down to the closest valid meaning.
No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if our business is transferred, and your rights are unaffected.
Entire agreement. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the site.
Third parties. Nobody other than you and us has rights under these terms.
Language. These terms are written in English. If we publish a translation and the two conflict, the English version governs, except where your own law says otherwise.
